Alison Coward is the founder of Bracket, a consultancy that helps freelancers, businesses and organisations collaborate more effectively supported by online tools (www.bracketprojects.co.uk), and an agency that brings independent creative freelancers together to collaborate on commercial projects (www.bracketcreative.co.uk).

This session will go through some of the practical techniques that Bracket uses for facilitating creative collaborations ensuring that ideas generated are turned into action, as well as discussing ways to overcome some of the common issues - looking at effective project management, communication and how online tools can be used to support the process.

Centre for Creativity in Professional Practice, City University London

The Centre for Creativity in Professional Practice was founded to coordinate established creativity research at City in domains ranging from business and engineering to psychology and the arts, and aims to become a world leader in the teaching, research and transfer of creativity in professional practice. Creativity and design, used effectively, are important competitive tools for firms and the formal education system, enhancing the supply of creativity and design skills, and management and business skills more generally.

City University London is already a world-class centre of applied creativity research through activities in informatics, business, psychology, music and the arts. The Centre links research activities in all seven of City's Schools and aims to build bridges and collaborations between existing teaching, research and consultancy activities around creativity and innovation. The focus on professional practice reflects City’s strengths in business and the professions, from engineering and information technologies to journalism, nursing and the arts.
